As an intellectual,
he repeatedly was elected as a member of the National
Consultative Assembly (Parliament). He founded the Daneshkadeh
Literary Society (the publisher of Danshkadeh magazine)
in 1917. The periodical was his actual means of dispersing
the results of his literary research and introducing the
European literature to Iranians. This is where Bahar's
poems and prose appeared. This periodical played a key
role in strengthening and developing the contemporary
style in the Persian literature.
In 1917 he gradually put the politics aside and dedicated
his time on literature. As a college professor, he then
started to teach literature in Tehran University, while
editing and writing books. He was appointed as the "Culture
