Khavar Industrial Group
In 1959 Khavar Benz Company was established to manufacture
"Mercedes Benz" trucks under license of German "Daimler
Benz". This Company merged with Iran Khodro in 1999
and formed Iran Khodro Diesel.
2-9 Mazda Auto Manufacturing Company (Bahman Auto Manufacturing
Group)
In 1952 this company was preliminary registered "Cuban
Gulf Corporation" to be involved in shipping services.
Based on permission issued by Ministry of Industry, the
company was agreed to manufacture Italian "Vespa" motorcycles.
In 1970, this factory initiated the production of Japanese
"Mazda" pick up and was changed into "Mazda Auto Manufacturing
Company". Currently, further to the production of Mazda
pick up, the company assembles "Mazda 323" saloon cars,
as well. |

3- Production of Auto Industry |
| According to
data released by Ministry of Industry, automobile manufacturing
companies in Iran produced 297,467 different types of
vehicles in the year 2000 that indicates 23.7% increase
compared with the figures of preceding year. During this
period, the number of passenger cars increasing by 32.6%
hit 249,076 and the production of minibus as well as truck
increasing by 251.8% and 8.7%, respectively reached 2,906
and 4,428 units. The production of bus, pick up and 4WD
cars comparing with the figures of preceding year decreased
by 36%, 10.8% and 19.6%, respectively. |

4- Future Overview |

| Based on a plan
implemented by the Ministry of Industry, the total production
of vehicles which stood at 297,467 in the year 2000 will
increase to 660,730 by 2004 targeting 54.9% growth for
the period.

5- Distribution of Production Share
Among Auto Companies |
| According to
registered data, Iran khodro with annual manufacture of
182,382 vehicle accounts for 61.3% of production. This
company is followed by SAIPA Group in second rank with
annual output of 68,082 cars which accounts for 22.8%
of supply, however, other companies stand for remaining
portion of the total production. A review on distribution
of production share indicates that Iran Khodro and SAIPA
bearing 63.6% and 26.8% of market share, repectively,
possess the biggest portion. Furthermore, both Iran Khodro
and Zamyad meeting some 53% and 38% of demand for pick
up models, dominate the market. Concerning public utility
vehicles, Iran Khodro Diesel accounts for 72.4% of minibus
and 48.9% of bus supply. |
